Terms of Engagement
Initial Contract. Candidates desirous of serving the Country as a member of the Defence Forces, in the category of Enlisted Soldiers, will undertake an Initial Contract of Six Years on enrolment. This will include period spent in training and will start on their respective enrolment date.
Subsequent Contracts. All subsequent contracts will be of two years each, however, they shall be linked to retirement and to future promotions, so as to regulate a smooth flow of manpower.
General Criteria for Officer Candidates
- Completion of the recruit training and serving SPDF
- Citizenship – Should be a Citizen of Seychelles.
- Character – Should be of a Good Character, which will be verified from Police. He/she should be without a record of conviction for an offence under the Penal Code of Seychelles.
- Age – Should be of the Age between 18 and 25 Years.
- Medical Fitness – Should be medically fit as per the Medical Policy of SPDF, in vogue at that time.
- Educational Qualifications – A level, Diploma or Higher Diploma.
- Passing the selection Test – Physical and psychometric
- Officer contract – 12 years

- Recruits SR 7758
- Privates SR 8349
- Lance Corporal to Warrant Officers SR 9282 onwards
All personnel also receive:
Duty Allowance SR1500
Transport Allowance SR 300
Education Allowance (SQA table)
Supplementation Allowance (Based on post)
Subsistence/ displacement Allowance – Posted/ deputed on duties outside Mahé
Officers
- Cadet Officer SR 10,076
- Commissioned officers SR 15,162 onwards
All officers also receive:

Education Allowance (Depending on SQA table)
Supplementation Allowance (Based on post)
